JustEat buys Food2u
Just Eat has acquired the Spanish mobile food delivery app Food2U to strengthen Just Eat's position in the online food delivery market.
Food2U's operation is based on the geolocation of the user's device to offer information about the restaurants that serve in the area from which the query is made.
Since the creation of Food2u, the startup has expanded its growth throughout Spain, covering establishments in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Zaragoza, Malaga and Palma.
For its part, Just Eat continues its expansion into new countries and acquisitions of companies that boost its trajectory in the market.
"The hunger for acquisitions in the $27 billion online food delivery sector remains unquenched, and this year we have already seen purchases such as those made by the German group Rocket Internet, including La Nevera Roja," says Diego Gutierrez from Abra-Invest.
Jesús Rebollo, managing director of Just Eat in Spain, stated a few months ago that in the food delivery business it is key to generate economies of scale, as it is necessary to reach a sufficiently large volume to generate the necessary profit to survive.
