venture capital isLast week was held in Barcelona the Mobile World Congress which was attended by more than 85,000 people from 201 different countries and attracted executives from the world's largest telephone operators, softwareThe event was attended by a group of leading figures, including Facebook's Zuckerberg, whatsapp's Korum and IBM's Rometty, as well as equipment suppliers, internet companies and industry sectors such as automotive, finance and healthcare.

"The world of mobility is advancing very fast and presents great investment opportunities, which has brought together last week in Barcelona both companies looking for a niche in the mobility market and investors who want to enter this world", says Diego Gutierrez, an expert in alternative financing of the Abra-Invest group.

The connected life: a major player
One of the most successful areas was that of the connected life, which attracted more than 17,000 visitors. The Connected City, presented by operators AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, KT and Vodafone, showcased mobile solutions and services for various areas such as health, the trade or transport. In addition, products such as the sportswear with smart detectors worn by the PABA (Pays d'Aix Basket Asptt) basketball team, which, together with the mobile phone, could be used to monitor and optimise the team's performance, were also highlighted. For its part, Oral-B presented the new electric toothbrush with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Spanish companies at the Mobile World Congress

A total of 58 Spanish companies dedicated to the different branches of the mobile business: telecommunications, mobile solutions, security, software and content, have made themselves known at this event. This figure far exceeds last year's participation, which limited the number of Spanish companies to 20. These included Tiendeo, Jobtalent and Solaiemes.

Tiendeo, Jobtalent and Solaiemes

Jobtalent is an employment platform based in Madrid and London that allows users to be shown the opportunities that best suit their profile.

Last August they received a €2.5MM round to continue revolutionising the recruitment market. Participants in the rounds include Kibo Ventures, Felix Ruiz, co-founder of Tuenti and Alfonso Villanueva.

Tiendeo, digital mailing platform that last November closed its third round of financing in which several business angels, including Francois Derbaix and Iñaki Berenguer, entered the company.

Solaiemes which, last January, was selected in the Red Herring Global 100, makes structures for mobile phones, creating innovative solutions in several areas, reinforcing the intelligence in the network part and simplifying what is required in the terminal.

Technology Data Analytics
for M&A
Advanced data anlytics is a weapon". Intelfin is an artificial intelligence tool we use for investing and creating value in SMEs through competitive analytics and the enterprise environment.

IntelFin consists of a cognitive system, which, through the application of advanced analytical technologies, facilitates the automation of investment and financing decisions in the field of non-listed companies and especially SMEs in high-growth sectors.

The information related to these companies is characterized by their lack of transparency and heterogeneity; thus, it is necessary to develop an advanced analysis which is as much predictive as prescriptive and is developed in a natural language custom, suitable to obtain greater clarity and knowledge of the investment scope.

The IntelFin system focuses especially on analyzing the variables that define and influence the competitive environment of a sector and the positioning of a company, analyzing their influence on future value creation. Therefore, IntelFin supports strategic decision-making to senior management by resolving questions such as:

¿What are my competitors' priorities, strategies and expansion plans? Who's my competition? Which competitor is most likely to grow at a higher rate?
Which areas of activity/business models will receive the most investment? Which sectors are most attractive to investors?
Which companies are going to experience the most growth in the near future? Which companies are most likely to receive investment or be acquired?
