According to a study by Price, the energy and power sector will see unprecedented change in the coming years. 97% of executives from the industry's leading companies expect the market to be significantly transformed by 2020. In this process of change, technology will play a major role. Today we want to highlight Spanish projects that are making innovations in the field of energy such as Vortex, Green Momit, Eolgreen or Challengers 15.

Innovative Spanish ideas that use technology to deliver energy solutions

Spanish engineering Deutecnohas developed VortexThe windmill, a windmill without the need for blades, reduces manufacturing costs as well as the environmental impact.

Vortex is a windmill without blades, which instead of generating wind energy through the rotary motion of a turbine, takes advantage of what is known as vorticity. Vorticity is an aerodynamic effect produced when wind hits a solid structure.

"Vortex ran a campaign in Indiegogo to raise funding in June 2015 and raised a total of 70,285$, 29% more than they had planned" comments Diego Gutierrez of Abra-Invest.

Eolgreen is a Spanish company that has created the first autonomous and sustainable street light that can be completely disconnected from the electricity grid. Its proposal aims to achieve a zero energy cost system that does not emit carbon dioxide and that separates itself, once and for all, from the electricity grid connection.

Momit has developed Green Momit, a smart thermostat with a touch screen that allows you to keep an exhaustive control of the temperature of your home wherever you are. Last year 2014 Momit received the SmartCamp award in its Spanish edition.

Challengers 15 is a company based in Mataró that has created a drinking water supply system based on solar energy, which is also capable of providing internet connectivity and electricity to the community in which it is installed.

Challengers provides 3 different services. On the one hand, a water purifier based on vacuum solar tubes capable of generating thermal energy. On the other, solar panels generate electricity, not only for the operation of the hub, but also to provide the surplus for community use. Finally, the system is also a WiFi connectivity point, through which neighbours can connect to the internet.
