BRAZIL M&A USA and internet as protagonists

brasilDuring 2013, investment in companies in Brazil has grown significantly, with "Internet" standing out as the most active sector. In 2012, this sector was not even among the five most interesting activities for investors.

 

BRL107,6M de inversión en el 2013

According to data from TTRecord, durante los tres primeros meses del 2013 se han registrado en Brasil un volumen de inversión de BRL107,6M teniendo en cuenta las operaciones donde los importes han sido desvelados. El tercer trimestre ha sido el más activo con un total de 234 transacciones, una cifra relevante si comparamos con las 197 registradas en el mismo trimestre del año pasado.

El sector internet crece y se sitúa en primera posición

Teniendo en cuenta los tres primeros trimestres del 2013, el sector de internet ha sido el más activo, con 62 operaciones. Cabe destacar que en el 2012 internet no se situaba ni entre los 5 primeros sectores más activos.

Las empresas americanas lideran el ranking con un total de 83 operaciones realizadas en el 2013, 28 de las cuales han sido en el último trimestre, representando un 15% aproximado del total.

"El segundo país con más operaciones ha sido Alemania con 18 operaciones con un total de BRL1,7bn. Principalmente en el sector de la alimentación como ha sido la compra del 50% de la brasileña Mais fruta por parte del grupo alimentario alemán Döhler Group." comenta Diego Gutierrez experto en finanzas internacionales en Abra Invest.

Es significativo que también los inversores de Brasil tienen como su primer mercado objetivo a USA. Han realizado un total de 35 transacciones, 10 de las cuales se han orientado hacia el mercado norteamericano. La operación más reciente ha sido ejecutada por la empresa de servicios TIC Steffanini con la adquisición de RCG Staffing, empresa dedicada a la selección y formación de personal TIC.

El capital riesgo y el venture capital is también aumentan su presencia

Un total de 50 operaciones durante el tercer trimestre del 2013 de las cuales 15 no se han desvelado los importes. El volumen invertido ha sido de BRL9,6M.

“Destaca la presencia de internet, como por ejemplo la inversión realizada por Project A ventures en Epicerie, una plataforma online para la venta de vinos. También ha habido otras operaciones en ecommerce como la inversión de A5 internet investments at Dress&go dedicada al alquiler de ropa de diseño” según Diego Gutierrez.
