The purchase of companies in the technology sector increases

According to a study conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers, who have studied the different types of private investments in different sectors, in terms of the volume of purchases by companies, on the number of operations, from 2012 to 2015, it can be seen in the graph as a 15% were investments made in the technology sector of TMT. However, in the last year, 2016-2017, there was an increase in investments in the technology sector, 18% compared to the 15% mentioned above, which is 3% more investments in this sector compared to the rest of the sectors and companies.


Top 5 VC investments in Q1 2018

Kuaishou, a digital platform for recording and sharing personal moments, closed a 1.000M $ round of funding from Tencent HoldingsTencent, a Chinese company whose business is based on its subsidiaries offering internet and telephone services, as well as online advertising services in China. Tencent has obtained patents related to technologies in various areas, such as instant messaging, e-commerce, online payment services, search engine, information security, games and much more. It has also made 285 investments over the years.

Trebuchet Holdings, owned by Armour Group Ltdis a new reinsurer that works with established asset management companies and specialists. It emerged thanks to $'s $500M investment by Aquiline Capital Partners, a private equity firm that invests in financial services and financial technology. The firm prefers to invest in companies that provide risk and services in sectors such as property and casualty insurance, banking, finance and others. Counting this deal, it is Aquiline Capital Partners' fifth investment, having previously invested in BitPay, OmegaFi, Fenergo and Clear2Pay.

Techcombank, a Vietnamese joint-stock merchant bank, receives 370M of $ from $. Warburg Pincus LLCWarburg is a global private equity growth investment firm headquartered in New York. Warburg has an active portfolio of over 140 companies and is highly diversified by stage, sector and geography. It has also made, including this deal, 245 investments in companies such as Uber and many more. This investment was made with the aim of investing in the Vietnamese company, a company on the rise.

Getka Energy, a crude oil logistics provider, and EnCap Flatrock Midstream$, reach agreement on the closing of a 250M round valued at $. EnCap Flatrock Midstream is a venture capital firm with a singular focus: to identify, invest in and enhance the value of large companies and attractive assets in the midstream sector of the North American oil and gas industry. With this deal, it reached ten investments, where two of them are to Lucid Energy Group.

And finally, WP Engine is a WordPress digital experience platform, which has received a $250M round from $ owned by Silver LakeSilver Lake, a private investment firm focused exclusively on making large-scale investments in leading technology companies to help them develop and extend their market leadership. Silver Lake, despite being 19 years old, has made just 45 investments, including this one.
