SaaS: operación de venta relevante

El SaaS, abreviación de Software as a Service, es un modelo de distribución de Software en el que un proveedor aloja tanto el Software de la empresa como sus datos y los pone a su disposición a través de Internet. Esto implica que el software utilizado por la empresa no está presente en la misma, si no que el proveedor se ocupa del hosting de este en la nube, además de sus actualizaciones y de su mantenimiento.  

En este post, se analizarán una de las operaciones de M&A más relevantes llevadas a cabo en el sector. Se trata de la reciente adquisición de Vlocity por parte de Salesforce, una de las empresas líderes del sector. Esta compra se realizó el 25 de febrero de este año 2020 y tuvo un valor de 1.330 Millones de dólares.  

Salesforce en lo alto del sector 

Salesforce es una empresa americana de software con sede en San Francisco, California. Ofrece un servicio de gestión de relaciones con los clientes (CRM) y también vende un conjunto complementario de aplicaciones empresariales centradas en el servicio al cliente, la automatización del marketing, el análisis y el desarrollo de aplicaciones. Salesforce y el gigante tecnológico Microsoft conforman las empresas líderes del sector.  

Esta operación le ayuda a mantenerse en lo alto del SaaS, ya que Vlocity le proporciona el producto perfecto para Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Communities Cloud y otras tecnologías principales de Salesforce. Las aplicaciones de Vlocity consiguen la máxima reutilización de los objetos centrales de Salesforce y garantizan que los objetos de Vlocity funcionen hoy y en el futuro con futuras versiones de los objetos de Salesforce.

Cabe señalar que esta operación ayuda a Vlocity a destacar en el mercado siendo ahora socios de una de las empresas más importantes del sector del Software as a Service, Salesforce, por lo que es una operación importante para que ambas empresas se consoliden frente a sus competidores.
