Primeras compras de Spotify en el área de podcast en 2019

Spotify es la empresa de streaming musical más grande del mundo, con una cifra de usuarios activos superior a los 200 millones de usuarios y 96 millones de suscripciones; con un crecimiento del 26% en la base de usuarios en el último año.

Durante el último año ha conseguido que los ingresos crecieran más de un 30%, gracias a aumentar la tasa de suscripciones en un 2%, alcanzando el 46%.

Para afianzar la posición, y evitar un sorpaso de otras compañías que están empezando a tomar posiciones dentro del sector, y para conseguir mantener las ganancias que por primera vez ha conseguido, Spotify se ha centrado en obtener un crecimiento notable durante 2019, para ello, una de las primeras decisiones ha sido conseguir un crecimiento inorgánico mediante compras de empresas, mayoritariamente reforzando el área de podcast.

El sector del podcast ha crecido de manera vertiginosa, siendo Pandora uno de los referentes a nivel mundial, un sector con una gran atracción para generar ingresos mediante marketing y conseguir una audiencia recurrente.

Desde que ha comenzado el año Spotify ha adquirido tres compañías, más que en todo el año 2018.

Parcast

Parcast es una empresa fundada en 2016 orientada mayoritariamente a la distribución de podcast con un método de “story telling”, en el cual se van creando distintas series y van subiéndose periódicamente episodios complementarios.

La adquisición de esta compañía se ha realizado por 50M€.

Anchor

Anchor ha sido adquirida el 6 de febrero por un valor de $158M. Esta empresa se dedica principalmente a facilitar la grabación de podcasts, dando la capacidad de un almacenaje ilimitado, de alta calidad y con facilidad para su distribución.

Gimlet Media

Gimlet Media es una empresa dedicada a la construcción de una plataforma para la retransmisión de podcasts, la cual se centra en los podcasts profesionales de alta calidad, disponiendo de series propias como “StartUp” o “ReplyAll”.

Esta empresa fue adquirida a principios de febrero por $200M siendo la primera de las tres operaciones orientadas al desarrollo, generación y distribución de podcasts.
