Videojuegos, ¿Se mantiene la chispa inversora?

venture capitalTras un boom inversor, hay corrientes de opinión sobre el poco atractivo del sector de videojuegos por la falta de candidatos corporativos para una adquisición, mientras otros venture capital están activos buscando nuevas oportunidades.

Financiación venture versus financiación de “publishers”

Según Kristian Segerstrale de Initial Capital, “muchos han intentado financiarse mediante los editores, pero pocos han mostrado éxito por ello. Esto se debe a que el valor que aporta el editor mediante financiación, el marketing, la tecnología y la distribución a través de canales de venta al por menor no funciona bien en el  mundo digital. Dice mucho que ni un solo proyecto en la actual lista top25 de iOS top-25  haya sido "publicado" por un tercero”

¿Tiene sentido invertir en el sector videojuegos?

“El sector se ha caracterizado por el rápido crecimiento y ocasionalmente la caída vertiginosa de nuevos entrantes, como es el caso de Zynga. La poca presencia de corporaciones candidatas a realizar una adquisición y el mercado complicado para los IPOS retrae a muchos inversores. Las empresas desarolladoras deben dedicarse a construir una factoría de videojuegos y no solo un videojuego para ser suficientemente atractivos para el venture capital”, señala Diego Gutierrez (ABRA INVEST) experto en financiación y crecimiento de pymes.

¿Y en España?

En España, durante el 2012 ha habido varias inversiones en el sector videojuegos. “El grado de madurez todavía no está definido porque hemos visto tanto operaciones tipo LBO como financiación de startups. Ejemplo de ello es Social Point, participada por Nauta capital y BBVA en una operación de 6 MM€ para un LBO. En el otro extremo, mola.com participó en una operación semilla en PlaceChallenge.” analiza Diego Gutierrez.
