M&A activitiesThe number of transactions in Latin America has fallen slightly compared to the previous month, however, the volume of investment has increased as a number of large deals have been closed, especially cross-border transactions.

Major operations in Latin American countries

According to TTR , Brazil is the country in which the most transactions have taken place, with 50 operations, one of the most important being the acquisition of Vigor Food $173.39M from FB Participações.

Argentina was the second most active country in terms of number of operations, with 19 transactions, among them the investment Oleaginosa Moreno Hermanos and Vicentín in the wind power company Renova for a total of $81M, the sale of UTE Puesto Hernández to YPF $ 40.70M and the sale of the Trilenium Casino to the group Indalo for $14.6M.

Colombia, Mexico and Peru have also been the protagonists of major operations.

Cross-border operations

There have also been large-scale transactions between Latin America and Europe, such as the sale by Repsol from Atlantic LNG in Trinidad and Tobago and Peru LNG to Shell $4,100M . Repsol is thus relieved of the debt associated with its assets.

In addition, talks have begun to increase these relations, which seems to anticipate that this trend will continue in the coming months. The Chilean CSAV, dedicated to the maritime transport of goods, has agreed to acquire a 30%  Hapag Lloyd, German company active in the same sector.

Most active sectors by number of transactions

Among the most active sectors, there are newer sectors such as internet and technology in countries such as Brazil, Argentina and Chile, but also more traditional sectors such as finance and insurance in Brazil and glass, ceramics and paper in Chile.
