Growing investment in the Fintech sector

fintech 2En los últimos 5 años la investment del sector Fintech  a nivel mundial se ha triplicado, llegando en 2013 a una inversión de $3B. En Europa,  Reino Unido encabeza la lista de principales inversores.

Londres: capital del Fintech en Europa

Desde el 2004 la mayoría de las ofertas de Fintech han tenido lugar en Reino Unido, y sobre todo en Londres. En 2013, Reino Unido e Irlanda fueron los protagonistas de  más de la mitad (53%) de las operaciones de FinTech de Europa y más de dos tercios de la funding (69%).

“Esta tendencia parece que va a continuar, recientemente han aparecido numerosas aceleradoras londinenses que ven el este sector una fuente de oportunidades, como Level 39, que se creó hace un mes escasamente y es la única aceleradora a nivel mundial de proyectos Fintech, o Startupbootcamp” comenta Diego Gutierrez, experto en alternative financing of the group Abra Invest.

Fintech en España

En España también se han realizado varias operaciones por importantes cantidades en el sector Fintech.
Quizá la más sonada ha sido la de Kantox, la firma pionera en el intercambio de divisas sin intermediación bancaria, que cerró este Febrero de 2014, la mayor financing round del sector Fintech  en España , una ronda de  6,4 millones de euros  liderada por Partech Ventures Idinvest. Kantox ya había cerrado anteriormente otra ronda de financiación de €1M liderada por Cabiedes.

Otra de las empresas que también ha recibido financiación es PeerTransfer, líder mundial en pagos internacionales en el sector de la educación. PeerTransfer, con sedes en Valencia y Boston, ha recibido €5 M de Financiación para Expansión Internacional y Nuevos Productos. La inversión ha sido liderada por QED Inversores, FIDES KIBO Ventures.

Onza partners, la sociedad de private equity presidida por José María Irisarri, creada en Diciembre de 2013 y  centrada en proyectos de internet y aplicaciones móviles, ha liderado un ronda de financiación de más de €3M en Fintonic, servicio para gestionar la economía doméstica.
