Starting in 2009, the manufacturing technologies sector, which enables time- and cost-saving manufacturing, attracted many investors. A total of 790 rounds and $7.236M have been raised in the sector to date. Below is an analysis of investment in the sector.

Como podemos ver en el gráfico, las rondas venture son las que más peso tienen dentro del sector, lo que nos muestra que las tecnologías de fabricación están en fase de expansión y tienen todavía mucho recorrido por delante, ya en los últimos años esa manifestación se hace patente con la aparición de rondas prívate equity y en el primer semestre 2014 ya se cerraron 4 rondas post-ipo.

La mayoría de las empresas en el sector tan solo han realizado una ronda de financiación, sin embargo, hay varias empresas que han realizado un número bastante elevado de rondas como Clearview Audio, fabricante de audio para coches, que ha realizado un total de 10 rondas de financiación. Trutouch, fabricante de sistemas de medición de intoxicación ha realizado  9 rondas por un importe de $26M.

The inverter más activo es Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), venture capital is Americano especializado en empresas -tecnológicas  que ha invertido en un total de 20 empresas en el sector, como BinOptics, que fabrica componentes optoelectrónicos y que ha realizado 6 rondas de financiación antes de ser adquirida por  M/A-COM Technology Solutions en Noviembe de 2014 o Everspin Technologies que fabrica sensores magnéticos integrados.

IDG Capital Partners, venture capital Americano enfocado a empresas Asiáticas ocupa el segundo lugar en la lista, esta firma ha invertido en empresas tales como  Shineon, que fabrica leds de alto brillo.
